Amish White Bread

Amish White Bread

Ingredients

· 1 cup warm water

· 1/3 cup sugar

· 2 ¼ teaspoon dry yeast

· ¾ teaspoon salt

· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

· 2 cups bread flour (regular flour works as well)

In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water then, add yeast. Allow to proof until foamy. Mix salt and oil in to yeast mixture. Add flour one cup at a time.

Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic. Place in a well oiled bowl and turn until coated. Let rise until doubled in bulk, about one hour.

Punch dough down and knead for a few minutes. Divide into servings and place in oiled pans. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Let dough rise for 30 minutes or until it has risen one inch above the pan. Bake for about 30miutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when you knock it.
